In 2016, a group of ALTA and MBA volunteers convened to discuss the fact that a major component of the residential mortgage loan “Closing Package” had been resistant to standardization: the Closing Instructions. While many attempts have been made, all have failed until now. For the past four years these volunteers have worked in a MISMO framework to create a different type of document that will work for all lenders and settlement agents. The new uniform Closing Instructions templates are now complete and being implemented across the mortgage lending industry. This webinar features Ruth Dillingham, one of the founders of the Closing Instructions Work Group. She will introduce these new documents and discuss how lenders and their closing agents will benefit from the use of a common form when lenders communicate with their settlement agents.
